Armageddon. Apocolypse. Doomsday. Whatever term is used, it signifies the
end of planet Earth, or at least the end of life as we know it.

The year 2012 has been holding the proverbial trophy for the “end” prediction for several years now, thanks to the Mayans, a culture that once thrived in Mesoamerica (Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador) from 2000 B.C. to approximately 250 A.D.

The Mayan culture was richly involved in astronomy, math, art, and architecture, and as a result, many interesting, historical items have been discovered in the region at which they once lived.

One such item was the Mayan calendar, which some people believe predicts the end of the world after an era of 5126 years. Specifically, it was believed that the date of December 21, 2012 at 11:11 P.M., universal time, is the official doomsday due to an upcoming astronomical event.

The winter solstace of December 21, 2012 is believed to mark the alignment of the sun with the center of the Milky Way Galaxy, which has not occurred for 26,000 years.

One Mayan man, however, does not believe that this alignment will cause mass chaos and deathly destruction. According to Apolinario Chile Pixtun of Mexico city, doomsday is simply a Western fantasy and not something the Mayans have actually predicted. He admits that it does signify the end of a major time period for the Mayans, but they have never implied the end of the planet Earth.

Will “the end” actually happen, or have humans created yet another Year 2000 epidemic of panic? The verdict is still out.

Most likely we have all heard about the planet Nibiru, and also about it supposedly return. Nibiru is a theory that is now one of the most disputed in the entire world. Although it is a recent one, starting with the 20^th Century, the information regarding it is millennial.

It all starts back with the ancient Sumerian texts that were found in the last century in the Middle East (especially in nowadays Iraq). These texts are attributing the creation of the ancient Sumerian culture to the “Annunaki”, which were a race from a distant planet called “Nibiru”. This planet, which is also called “the 12^th planet” in our Solar System, is orbiting the sun much like in an elongated and elliptical manner. Actually, the entire Sumerian mythology is based on the fact that this planet existed and the population of it was helping the humans in their civilization progress. It was believed that each time it returned from its 3600 years orbital journey around the sun, the Annunaki, the population from the Nibiru planet, were granting the human races with new advances. These advances were seen both in a technological and spiritual approach.

After some studies and researches, the most recent past return of the Nibiru planet was at approximately 200 B.C. So, the future return, based on the 3600 years orbital journey of it, the Annunaki and their mysterious planet will come back to us at something like 3400 A.D. All these theories cannot be considered facts, but more stories said by the occultists. It is not something that they are wrong, but there is little or no evidence regarding the Nibiru planet and its inhabitants, the Annunaki.

On the other hand, we are fascinated due to the fact that the Sumerians, along with other ancient civilizations, such as the Mayans, Chinese and Egyptians, knew more than we do about the Solar System and the entire Universe. Starting with the expeditions of Voyager and the put on the Earth’s Orbit of the Hubble Telescope, have offered us a chance to study beyond we could here on the Earth. A majority of all the ancient information found in the last one or two centuries, seem to be perfectly correct, after numerous space explorations and the usage of sophisticated equipment.

Most likely, some of the Nibiru – Annunaki story is real. The controversy regarding the paleoastronauts will still remain a burning issue in the esoteric and occult domain.

Starting with the 19th Century, there have appeared numerous theories regarding lost, sunken lands. It is a fact that we are now observing similarities between different parts of the world, which are suggesting the existence of other continents that could have represented bridges between far and distant places.

One of this so called “worlds” is LEMURIA. It is believed that it was a continent that has existed in ancient times, which has mainly sank beneath the Indian Ocean, due to some cataclysmic changes. As said, Lemuria is a hypothetical land located in the Pacific and Indian Oceans.

Although there is no scientific proof, numerous writers involved in the occult domain, together with some Tamil writers from India and Pakistan are certain that Lemuria was real and existed. It is said that evidence can be found in the name itself of the continent – “Lemuria”. The lemur species can be found now, without any explanation, from Madagascar and the surrounding islands, to Pakistan, India and even Malaysia. Fossil lemurs where found in all these regions, and due to this fact, it was suggested that Madagascar and India, together with the South-Eastern part of Asia, have been part of a greater continent.

Atlantis is one of the longest and most fascinating enigmas in the entire human history. It all dates back from Ancient Greece. Plato was the first to say and write about this in his dialogues Critias and Timaeus. He positioned the long lost land of Atlantis outside the Columns of Heracles, which is now Gibraltar. In addition, he has mentioned the fact that it was an island bigger than Libya and Asian Minor together.

Atlantis was described as being a metropolis of an incomparable beauty, with an advanced technology. The population of it would have been a most educated one. In addition, the advances would have been not only in science & technology, but also in the spiritual domain. Supposedly, Atlanteans were capable of communicating through telepathy, together with levitating themselves and other objects.

From what information we are having now, we can say the fact that Atlantis is a world of Science Fiction. But the situation is more complicated, and we all must look at its image in a wider perspective. Starting with Plato, numerous scholars have searched for this lost land, as it was a “promised land”. The Humanists, from the Early Modern Period, seem to have been fascinated about this unusual topic. Even some Renaissance writers, such as Francis Bacon, seem to have been interested in Atlantis and its position on the globe (Francis Bacon has even written a book called “New Atlantis”).

Rudolf Steiner and Edgard Cayce seem to have both been amazed by the story of Atlantis. These 2 personalities of their time have brought Atlantis into the 20th Century, offering this theme an international attention. While Rudolf Steiner was writing about the cultural evolution of the Atlantean Continent, Edgar Cayce was predicting in 1923 that Atlantis was a continent sized region, stretching from Bahamas to Azores. In addition, he has also affirmed hat parts of Atlantis will rise in 1968 or 1969. In the predicted years was discovered the Bimini Road in the Bahamas, a submerged rock formation, which was claimed to be the lost civilization.

Regarding its location on the map, there are numerous controversies. Some are crediting the Mediterranean Islands of Santorini, Crete, Sicily, Sardinia, Cyprus or Malta to be probable spots for the ancient civilization. Others are saying that Ireland, Bosphorus or the Azov Sea must be also taken into consideration.

Actually, no one really knows, so Atlantis will most surely remain a mystery or a story long time from now on.
