Across from the White House is a purported haunted house, which President-elect Barack Obama, his wife, Michelle, and daughters Malia and Sasha will temporarily call home.

The first family is expected to move into the storied Hay-Adams Hotel in the capital this weekend.

Hotel spokesman Robert Volmer declined to comment. But Democratic sources say the Obamas, whose daughters start school Monday, will reside there until Jan. 15.

The Hay-Adams is among the top-rated luxury hotels in the world, but it’s also allegedly home to a lingering resident, the ghost of Clover Adams, the wife of Henry Adams, a descendant of Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams, who took her own life in 1885.

A flight scheduled to mark the 30th anniversary of the sighting of unidentified flying objects over the Kaikoura coastline has been postponed until April.

Organiser Paul Davidson said not enough people had booked, so it was not viable to fly. A lot of people who had wanted to come could not because of the time of year, he said. He hoped it would go ahead from April 11 to 13 in conjunction with the Classic Fighter Airshow at Omaka.

Cryptozoology is a field of study that has been desperately trying to gain acceptance in the scientific community for over fifty years. Everywhere you turn, it seems that the economic news is dismal. As foreclosures and college tuition costs skyrocket, while jobs and 401K’s evaporate, what are Americans doing about it? The answer may surprise you: they’re checking in with psychics.

The reason is simple on the face of it. Lots of people want someone to tell them what to do. Should I sell my house, downsize and relocate, cash in the remnants of my stock portfolio? Hong Kong - A UFO group in Hong Kong has condemned the city’s largest university for cancelling a course on ufology because, it said, of faculty objections to the subject.

The course was set to begin last September as an optional subject for University of Hong Kong students in a joint project between the university and the Hong Kong Institute of Ufology, local newspaper Apple Daily reported on Monday.

The course was delayed and discussions were held on offering it at a later date after some academics expressed reservations about its content, Moon Fong, a committee member of the institute, told reporters.

Some dramatic events have taken place throughout the holidays in the Capital City and one local group wants you to discover Austin’s haunted past.

Austin Ghost tours offer a 90 minute nightly walking tour of Downtown Austin which focuses on the history and the haunted sights and stories.

Tour organizers say the tour is a great way to see Austin and take in some of the festive decorations at the same time.

Elizabeth Garzone of Austin Ghost Tours said Austin is a very haunted place.
